Campus Journal emerges stronger from 3-day hacker-imposed blackout

A cyber attack brought down The Campus Journal current affairs website Sunday, demonstrating the level of determination of the enemies of Uganda’s only truly uncensored publication.
It is not yet clear whether the attack was part of the ongoing government crackdown on independent media that has so far seen two newspapers and two radio stations closed down.

1.5 bonus points pointless?

Even though they now outnumber their male counterparts in public universities, female students are still given an additional 1.5 points during university admission. Is this still affirmative action?

This question, and various versions of its kind, is not new. In some contexts it pits the social sciences against the natural and physical sciences. It will be recalled that 19th Century Europe widely despised sociology, anthropology and other forms of social sciences as claims that lacked supporting evidence and couldn’t be verified.
